Sealvane

Terms

Draft of 19 October 2026

Draft - to be reviewed before launch. This page is not final legal text.

Who we are, and what these terms cover

Sealvane is operated by ZDNS (Pty) Ltd, South Africa (“ZDNS”, “we”). These terms cover this website, the early-access list, and the Sealvane service once it opens. Contact: CONTACT_EMAIL_TBD. How we handle personal information is in the privacy policy.

The website and the early-access list

Sealvane is not open for sign-ups yet. Joining the early-access list means you tell us you are interested and agree that we may email you about early access. It is not an order, it does not reserve a place or a price, and we may change, delay or cancel the launch. Please give us correct information. You can ask to be removed at any time.

What the service does, and what it cannot do

Sealvane is a DNS filter. When a device is set to use your personal Sealvane address, it sends its website lookups to Sealvane, which checks each one and blocks scam, phishing and malware sites, and lookups that carry card numbers or ID numbers out of the device. Offices can also point a router at Sealvane to cover every device on that network.

  • Sealvane is not antivirus, a firewall or endpoint protection, and does not replace them. It cannot see web pages, emails or files.
  • It checks only lookups that come from devices and networks set to use it. A device or browser set to another DNS service skips it.
  • It will not catch every threat, and it will sometimes block something harmless. We make no promise about detecting any particular attack or working in real time.
  • Today our servers are in South Africa only. We do not promise a particular level of uptime. If Sealvane cannot be reached, lookups through it can fail: for example, on Android with Private DNS set to a hostname, your device shows a connection error until it can reach Sealvane again. Switching Private DNS back to Automatic restores normal internet straight away.

Your responsibilities

  • Use Sealvane lawfully, and only on devices you own or are allowed to manage.
  • If you protect other people's devices (for example staff or family members), tell them that lookups are recorded, as described in the privacy policy.
  • Keep your personal address and your login private, and tell us at once if you think someone else has them.
  • Do not try to disrupt, probe or overload our systems, and do not resell the service without our agreement.

Prices and payment

Prices have not been announced. Before you are charged anything, we will show you the price and these terms, and you will have to accept them. Terms for payment, renewal and cancellation will be added here before launch.

Ending the service

You can stop using Sealvane at any time by switching it off on your devices; our setup guides show how. We may suspend or end an account for non-payment or for a serious breach of these terms, and we will tell you first where we reasonably can.

Liability

Sealvane is provided as a service that works to reduce risk, not to remove it. To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you under these terms is limited to the fees you paid us in the 3 months before the claim arose, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, such as lost profits or lost data. Nothing in these terms excludes any liability that the law does not allow us to exclude, or limits rights you have as a consumer under the law of the country where you live.

Changes to these terms

We may change these terms. We will show the date at the top, and we will email you at least 30 days before a change that affects a paid service takes effect.

Governing law

These terms are governed by South African law, and the courts of South Africa have jurisdiction, without affecting any mandatory consumer rights you have in the country where you live.
